Thank you for your Official Information Act request to the Department of Conservation, received
on 22 February 2026 in which you asked for information related to forestry impacts to the
environment (slash, sedimentation and erosion) and external influence over public communications
and decision‑making.
This letter is to advise you that we are extending the twenty (20) working day period to respond to
your request, as allowed under section 15A(1) of the Official Information Act 1982 (OIA). We require
an additional twenty-six (26
) days to respond to your request. We wil send you a response no later
than 30 April 2026, earlier if possible.
The extension of time is required to be able to make a decision on and prepare a proper response to
your request as consultation with relevant parties is necessary, and this cannot reasonably be
completed within the original time limit.
You have the right, under section 28(3) of the OIA, to make a complaint to an Ombudsman about the
extension.
If you wish to discuss this response to your request, please contact
[email address]. Nāku noa, nā
