OIA 26.430 Engineering Graduate GPAs/Honours 
I refer to the Official Information Act (the Act) request dated 22 February 2026 regarding Engineering Graduate 
GPAs. You have specifical y requested: 
•  The average GPA and the number of students graduating in each class of honours from the 2026 
graduating class for each engineering discipline. 
A graduating student in 2026 in an engineering discipline is taken to mean those who completed their 
academic requirements in 2025 and are therefore on track to graduate in 2026. However, graduation with the 
BE Hons also requires completion of the non-academic requirements covered in ENGR200, (principal y 800 
hours of work experience) so there are sometimes delays in graduations. 
The average Grade Point Averages for each class of honours in each Engineering Discipline are refused under s 
18(f) of the Act, as they would require substantial col ation and research to provide. This is because they are 
manual calculations.   
 
Please note that classes of honours are computed from grade point averages, as specified in the UC calendar.

•  General conditions of credit regulation 11(a) for the class of honours (p40 in the 2026 Calendar) 
•  BE(Hons) regulations 9(a)-(c) for the GPA calculation (p423 in the 2026 Calendar) 
For the numbers of students graduating with each class of honours, please note that where there are between 
one to five students in a particular category, the actual number is not provided, rather a range of less than or 
equal to five (≤5). This is to protect the individual’s privacy under s 9(2)(a) of the Act. It is in the public interest 
that individuals are not identifiable when providing information about student numbers.
