Official Information Act request: Ministerial Advisory Group for Victims of Retail
Crime
Thank you for your email of 17 February 2026 to the Ministry of Justice, requesting under the
Of icial Information Act 1982 (the Act), information regarding the Ministerial Advisory Group
for Victims of Retail Crime. Specifically, you requested:
I would like to request to view all meeting agendas and meeting minutes of this group
since its establishment.
I would like to review the documents related to how this decision was made,
particularly in relation to the statement in the news that the group “rejected advice
from officials about which office it should rent, preferring a more expensive option for
privacy reasons.” Specifically, I would like to see the advice provided by officials, as
well as the reasons given by the group for rejecting that advice.
A response to your request is being prepared. However, the consultations necessary to
make a decision on your request are such that a proper response cannot reasonably be
made within the original time limit. Therefore, I am extending the time limit for reply under
section 15A(1)(b) of the Act and wil respond to you no later than 31 March 2026.
You have the right, under section 28 of the Act, to make a complaint to the Ombudsman
about the decision to extend the time for responding to your request. The Office of the
Ombudsman may be contacted by phone on: 0800 802 602, by email at:
[email address], or via the webform:
