Extension of time to respond to request made under the Official Information Act 1982 
 
Thank you for your email of 10 February 2026 requesting the fol owing information under the 
Official Information Act 1982 (the Act): 
 
Please provide any unpublished research on driver beliefs and attitudes towards vehicle 
speed and speeding in New Zealand, including but not limited to research reports and 
presentations, since 2022. Including research done internally or commissioned by NZTA. 
 
This letter is to advise you that NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA) is extending the 20 
working days available to respond to your request, as allowed for under section 15A of the Act. 
We require an additional 15 working days and wil  send you a response on or before 31 March 
2026.  
 
The deadline is being extended as the consultations necessary to make a decision on your 
request are such that a thorough response cannot reasonably be made within the original 20-
working-day limit.  
 
Under section 28 of the Act, you have the right to complain to the Ombudsman about the 
extension. More information about the Ombudsman is available online at 
www.ombudsman.parliament.nz.
