Thank you for your email of 30 January 2026 to the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment
(MBIE), requesting, under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act), the following information:
May I ask how you called for public nomination and on what platform you have call for public
nominations e.g. govt.jobs website.

Public nominations were sought using jobs.govt, Seek.com and the MBIE jobs website.

Nominations were also sought from the Ministry for Women, Ministry of Disabled People,
Ministry for Pacific Peoples, Ministry for Ethnic Communities and Te Puni Kokiri.

The advert was circulated through the Royal Society’s professional networks and MBIE’s science
networks.

LinkedIn was used to further advertise the roles.
A copy of your ad and pay rate for the role as well.

Please find a copy of the advertisement for each role attached.

Pay rate:
o Chair - $62,300 per annum for governance functions, and $1,025 daily for advisory
functions
o Member - $31,200 for governance functions, and $669 daily for advisory functions
Also, how many applications you have received for each of the role from the public and how many
you have received from other nominating agencies such as TPK or Ministry of women etc for your
role.

We received 206 applications for the member roles, and an additional 13 applications for the
Chair role.

We do not capture the data of where each candidate’s application came from. As such, we are
unable to provide you with statistics on how many applications were received from nominating
agencies.
How many you have shortlisted and how many you have interviewed.

Five candidates were initially shortlisted for the Chair role, with an additional two candidates
added later in the process.

We interviewed seven total for the Chair role.

25 candidates were initially shortlisted for the member roles. This was then revised to 16, who
were then interviewed.
Also, can I request to view the appointment letter if there is one sent to the appointee.
