Official Information Act request: Nomination call for Tenancy Tribunal Adjudicator 
 
Thank you for your email of 19 January 2026, requesting under the Official Information Act 
1982 (the Act), information relating to expressions of interest sought for appointment as a 
Tenancy Tribunal Adjudicator. Specifically, you requested: 
 
May I ask how you called for public nomination and on what platform you have call 
for public nominations e.g. govt.jobs website. A copy of your ad as well. Also, how 

many application you have received for each of the role from the public and how 
many you have received from other nominating agencies such as TPK or Ministry of 
women etc for your role. How many you have shortlisted and how many you have 

interviewed. Also, how many vacancy you have available in this round.  
 
For ease of reference, I have separated out your request and will respond to each part in 
turn. 
  1.  “...how you called for public nomination and on what platform you have cal for public 
nominations e.g. govt.jobs website. A copy of your ad as well. “ 
 
The positions were advertised on the Ministry of Justice (the Ministry) website, on SEEK, in 
the Law Association and New Zealand Law Society publications and was also sent to the 
Māori Law Society.  A copy of the advertisement is attached
  2.  “how many application you have received for each of the role (New Plymouth and 
Queenstown) from the public and how many you have received from other 
nominating agencies such as TPK or Ministry of women etc for your role.” 

 
A total of 132 expressions of interest have been received for the two available roles, al  of 
which were submitted by members of the public. No expressions of interest were sought or 
have been received from nominating agencies. 
  3.  “How many you have shortlisted and how many you have interviewed. How many 
vacancies are available in this round.” 
 
Shortlisting and interviewing are yet to take place and there are two vacancies. 


  4.  Also, can I request to view the appointment letter if there is one sent to the previous 
appointee. I am happy for you to remove all the personal information.
