Thank you for your email of 14 January 2026, in which you request the fol owing under
the Official Information Act 1982 (OIA):
“You have been quoted in the media saying "We remind the Governor to stay in
her New Zealand lane and stick to domestic monetary policy. That would have
been the advice of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade if the Governor had
sought its advice, which she did not.
Please supply any official information you hold in relation to this comment
substantiating the claims made. This may be, but is not limited to, information
supplied by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.”
On 13 February 2026, the timeframes for responding to your request were extended by
an additional 15 working days due to the consultations necessary to make a decision
on your request (section 15A(1)(b) of the OIA refers).
