I refer to your request for information dated 3 January 2026 regarding cameras on SH1. 
Please find our response below. 
 
Are you or any of your contractors, subsidiaries, or their contractors responsible for any of the cameras 
along SH1 through Auckland (within reason)? There are many cameras on poles and gantries that do not 
correspond with public NZTA highway cameras. Do you manage these? If so, are they part of a trial or are 
they currently in use? What purpose do they serve? 
Auckland Transport (AT) does not general y own or manage cameras on SH1; these are typical y a Waka 
Kotahi NZ Transport Agency assets. 
There are limited exceptions where cameras on motorway gantries may relate to joint AT/Waka Kotahi 
compliance activity, such as Special Vehicle Lane (SVL) enforcement infrastructure (e.g., T2 / bus-only lane 
compliance), which is used for compliance/enforcement. 
AT also operates a smal  number (4) of cameras in the wider Constel ation area that support journey time 
(travel time) information. 
 
Should you have a specific camera of interest, please let us know and we wil  be able to provide you with 
specific details to that camera. 
Should you believe that we have not dealt with your request appropriately, you are able to make a 
complaint to the Office of the Ombudsman in accordance with section 27(3) of the LGOIMA Act and seek an 
investigation and review regarding this matter.
