Thank you for your email of 22 December 2025 to the Ministry of Education (the Ministry)
requesting the following information:

1. May I ask how you called for public nomination and on what platform you have call
for public nominations e.g. govt.jobs website. A copy of your ad as well.
2. Also, how many applications you have received for each of the role from the public
and how many you have received from other nominating agencies such as TPK or
Ministry of women etc for your role. How many you have shortlisted and how many
you have interviewed.
3. Also, can I request to view the appointment letter if there is one sent to the
appointee. I am happy for you to remove all the personal information.
4. "Ministerial Appointees serve in a voluntary capacity and wil receive a modest
stipend for their participation in meetings."
How much wil they be paid, and what does their payment structure look like?
Your request has been considered under the Of icial Information Act 1982 (the Act).
In response to
part one of your request, the call for nominations was advertised on the Ministry
website on 27 November 2025. This advertisement was also placed on Seek and on the Sir
Edmund Hil ary Collegiate Combined School (the School) Facebook page. Please find a copy of
the advertisement attached as
Appendix A.
In response to
part two of your request, the Ministry received two applications from members of
the public, and no nominations were received from other nominating agencies. One applicant has
been shortlisted. The selection panel reviewed the applications with no interviews taking place.
In response to
part three of your request, an appointment letter has not yet been sent as the
appointment process is stil underway. I am therefore refusing this part of your request under
section 18(e) of the Act, as the information requested does not exist.

In response to
part four of your request, Ministerial Appointees to a school board serve in a
voluntary capacity and receive the same honorarium as every other board member. While each
school board is entitled to set its own remuneration rates, the School has opted to provide the
default amount. This amount is $55 per meeting per member, or $75 per meeting for the Presiding
Member (Board chair), and is tax exempt. An additional allowance of $125 for the Board chair and
$95 for members is provided to assist with associated costs such as travel, babysitting, loss of
income. These are per month, are not tax exempt, and wil require the Board Members to attend all
