Health – Manatū Hauora (the Ministry) on 16 December 2025 for information regarding
appointments to the End-of-Life Choice Committee (EOLC Commit ee). Please find a response
to each part of your request below.
I noted you have recently call for nomination for your End of Life Choice Review
Committee. May I ask how you called for public nomination and on what platform you
have call for public nominations e.g. govt.jobs website.
The vacancy was advertised on the Ministry’s Careers webpage and the Government jobs
webpage from 25 November 2025 until 9 December 2025.

Members of the Committee are paid $885 per day for meetings plus half a day’s preparation
time.
How many vacancies do you have for this entity?
There are currently three vacancies, which represents the full membership of the Committee.
Also, how many applications you have received from the public and how many you have
received from other nominating agencies such as TPK or Ministry of women etc for your
role. How many you have shortlisted and how many you have interviewed.

Recruitment efforts are stil under way, including seeking nominations from a range of dif erent
sources. As this process is ongoing, the information you have requested is not yet available.

Vacancies on the End of Life Review Committee
The Ministry of Health – Manatū Hauora (the Ministry) is seeking candidates who wish to be
considered for appointment to the End of Life Review Committee (the Review Committee). The
Review Committee is established under section 26 of th
e End of Life Choice Act 2019 (the EOLC
Act) which enables people who experience unbearable suffering from terminal il ness the ability to
legally ask for medical assistance to end their lives.
About the role – Kōrero mō te tūranga
Being a member of the Review Committee is rewarding and challenging. You will be committed to
improving the health of New Zealanders, through contribution to the Committee’s legislative
requirements.
The functions of the Review Committee are set out under
section 26(2) of the EOLC Act. More
information about the Review Committee is available in the attached terms of reference and the
Ministry’s website.

Appointments to the Review Committee are made by the Associate Minister of Health, Hon David
Seymour.

INFORMATION
About you – Kōrero mōu
For all applicants, governance and/or regulatory experience is a plus but not required. It is
beneficial if you have the ability to lead strategically, and to balance competing demands.
The Ministry is seeking applications from candidates with the fol owing experience:

Medical ethics
•
Two health practitioners, one of whom must be a medical practitioner who practises in the
area of end-of-life care.
The ideal candidate will also have an understanding of māutauranga Māori, including tikanga Māori
and te ao Māori.
