Your Official Information Act request, reference: GOV-045145
Thank you for your email of 15/12/25, asking for the following information under the Official Information
Act 1982 (the Act):
1. Since the national govt came in how many long term claims were 'audited' in August 2025? and;
1.2 had their weekly compensation cut?
2. How many people with severe PTSD claims whom are suicidal and have had long term home
help of over 30 hours have just had their hours cut severely regardless of reports advising them
not to?
Our response ACC does not systematically record review activity on long‑term claims in a way that enables us to
identify which claims were reviewed within a particular month, nor the outcomes of those reviews. In
addition, ACC does not record information about whether a client is suicidal, nor do we capture
whether clinical advice relating to home help levels is noted on a claim.
We would only be able to identify claims that are relevant to this request by manually reviewing
information held within individual claim files. Accordingly, we are refusing this part of your request
because the information cannot be made available without substantial collation and research.
This decision has been made under section 18(f) of the Act.
In making this decision, we considered extending our timeframe to respond and charging (as allowed
under the Act). However, it was determined that the resources required to provide the information
would have a significant impact on the everyday functions of the team(s) involved.
Annual Report
We refer to pages 45 and 49 of ACC’s Annual Report, which provide information about long-term claims
and weekly compensation. This report is publicly available on the ACC website at:
