I am responding to your email of 10 December 2025 to the Department of Internal Affairs
(the Department) requesting the fol owing under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act):
I noted, you have call expression of interest for Library and Information Advisory
Commission.
May I ask how you called for public nomination and on what platform you have call for
public nominations e.g. govt.jobs website. A copy of your ad and pay rate as wel . Also,
how many applications you have received from the public and how many you have
received from other nominating agencies such as TPK or Ministry of women etc for your
role. How many you have shortlisted and how many you have interviewed.
Responses to your questions are set out below.
How did the Department cal for nominations, and what platforms did you use to cal for
public nominations, e.g. govt.jobs website?
The Department advertised applications for the Library and Information Advisory
Commission (LIAC) on:
•
the Department’s statutory appointment page at www.dia.govt.nz/Appointments-
to-Statutory Bodies;
•
on the public platforms – SEEK, Government Jobs New Zealand;
•
with sector organisations - Publishers Association of New Zealand, Digital Inclusion
Alliance Aotearoa, and Professional Historians Association of New Zealand
Aotearoa and sharing information with the National Digital Forum.
Nominations were also sought from the Ministry for Ethnic Communities, the Ministry for
Women, the Ministry for Pacific Peoples, Te Puni Kōkiri – Ministry of Māori Development
and Whaikaha – Ministry for Disabled People.

How many applications did you receive from the public?
The Department received 14 applications for LIAC.
How many applications you have received from other nominating agencies such as TPK or
Ministry of women etc for your role.
None of the 14 applicants were nominated by nominating agencies.
How many shortlisted and how many have you interviewed? When you expect the process
wil be concluded?
Shortlisting has not yet been completed as the applications are under the assessment stage
and consequently no interviews have been conducted. The Department anticipates that any
new appointments wil be made by the end of March 2026. However, this timeframe may be
subject to change.
Therefore, this part of your request is refused under 18(e) of the Act, as the information
does not exist.
