Item 1
The Right Honourable Christopher Luxon
Prime Minister
New Zealand
Your Excellency Prime Minister Luxon,
I hope this letter finds you well.
By way of introduction, my name is Jalil Rasheed, and I am the Managing Director (Asia
Pacific) at the Tony Blair Institute of Global Change (TBI).
I am writing to request a
bilateral meeting with you during my upcoming trip to Wellington, taking place on June
24th, 2024, to continue our dialogue on how TBI can support your vision for New
Zealand.
This request comes following Mr. Tony Blair’s productive discussion with Your Excellency
last year in London. Mr. Blair thoroughly enjoyed the conversation and is impressed by the
ambition of your government’s agenda.
Mr. Blair knows first-hand how difficult it can be to successfully implement ambitious
reform programs. He established TBI upon leaving office to take the lessons he learned as
Prime Minister and make them available to other leaders like yourself. Today, our 900+
talented staff apply these lessons in the work they do every day to help Presidents and
Prime Ministers in 40+ countries solve their most pressing challenges.
Since 2022, I have been leading the establishment and growth of our new Asia Pacific
(APAC) Division, which exists to provide senior political leaders with bespoke advisory
services so they can accelerate the implementation of their reform agendas. To deliver for
our clients, we combine the tried and tested methodologies deployed by Mr. Blair and TBI
in more than 50 countries around the world since 2008, with cutting-edge insights tailored
to the realities of this unique region.
In less than two years, we have grown our footprint substantially across the APAC region
and are now advising Heads of State & Heads of Government in five countries including
Vietnam, the Philippines, Indonesia, India, and Timor-Leste. We would be delighted to bring
our insights and expertise to New Zealand.
My upcoming trip to New Zealand is a testament to TBI’s commitment to deepening our
understanding about your countries realities and working side by side with your
under the Official Information Act 1982
government to advance your priorities. I sincerely hope we can arrange a bilateral meeting
during my visit, and I thank you in advance for considering my request.
My colleague Landon Wilcock, (Associate, Asia Pacific Advisory) can coordinate the
logistics associated with this meeting with a member of your staff. He is reachable at

or s9(2)(a)

My warmest regards,
