I refer to your request for official information of 5 December 2025 in which you have requested the 
2025 aggregated enrolment data for the following subject areas: 
“Environmental  Planning,  Software  Engineering,  Mechanical  Engineering,  Accounting,  Molecular  and 
Cellular Biology, Ecology and Biodiversity, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Biomedical Sciences and 
English”. 
Under the Official Information Act 1982 (Act) the University of Waikato (University) has considered 
your request and responds as follows. 
Please note that all enrolment data has been aggregated to include: 
•  Domestic and International students 
•  Region of prior secondary school education for domestic students 
•  Gender 
•  Ethnicity 
•  Age bands 
The  University  provides  the  attached  document  in  response  to  the  data  requested,  noting  the 
following: 
(a)  Data is provided as at 22 January 2026. 
(b)   A  student has  been  assigned  to  a  subject  based on  their  majors and  minors,  if  a  student has 
selected more than one subject, they will be counted once in each category selected. 
(c)   Numbers have been aggregated to protect the privacy of individuals pursuant to section 9(2)(a) 
of the Act. 
You  have  the  right  to  seek  an  investigation  and  review  by  the  Ombudsman  of  this  decision.
