Digital Identity Services Trust Framework Authority

becoming a member of the Digital Identity Services Trust Framework Authority (the
Authority).
The Department of Internal Affairs is calling for applications from individuals with a strong
interest and experience in digital identity and regulation to ensure the Authority makes
decisions of the highest standard.
What is the Digital Identity Trust Framework Authority?
The Authority is an independent body, established under the Digital Identity Services Trust
Framework Act 2023 (the Act). The Authority regulates the provision of digital dentity
services. Its role is to carry out the functions of the Authority as specified in section 60 of the
Act.
The Authority is seeking up to five members from the private and public sectors. Members,
including the Presiding Member, are appointed by the Secretary of Internal Affairs for terms
of up to three years, and can be reappointed.
What skil s and experience do a member of the Digital Identity Trust Framework Authority
need?
As a member, you should bring a mix of knowledge and experience in digital identity,
regulatory decision making, digital identity services and applications, administering industry
accreditation, complaints and investigation processes, compliance and monitoring, and
governance experience.

Candidate Information
Background
The Digital Identity Services Trust Framework Authority (the Authority) is an independent
body, established under the Digital Identity Services Trust Framework Act 2023 (the Act).
The Authority regulates the provision of digital identity services, and carries out the
functions of the Authority as specified in section 60 of the Act.
The Secretary of Internal Affairs is seeking up to five members from the private and public
sectors for appointment to the Authority. Members, including the Presiding Member, are
appointed for terms of up to three years, and can be reappointed.
Skills and experience
Candidates should have mix of:
• experience in regulatory decision making
• knowledge of digital identity services and applications
• knowledge and experience of administering industry accreditation
• experience with complaints and investigations processes
• experience with compliance and monitoring
• governance experience.
Diversity among the membership is also sought.
Commitment and remuneration
The Authority has been assessed under the Cabinet Fees Framework as a Group 2, Level 3
body, with daily fees of $940 for the Presiding Member, and $600 for members.

Unlike the typical statutory appointment process, we welcome candidates from both the
public and private sectors. This is because the Act expressly states that members may
include public service employees. However, if a member is a public servant they would not
be paid a fee, instead members will be paid by their employer as if they are undertaking
their normal duties for time reasonably taken from their duties to undertake the work of the
Authority. The member would also need to gain explicit agreement from their employer
prior to being appointed.
Released
The Authority wil meet up to twelve times annually based on need, and it is estimated that
the total time commitment wil be between 6-12 days annually. Meetings wil be half days,
approximately two hour meeting with preparation time of one to two hours required.
