OIA: GEMS-46103 – Notice of Vacancy in the Teaching Council of Aotearoa New Zealand 
Thank you for your email of 1 December 2025 to the Minister of Education, Hon Erica Stanford, 
regarding the Teaching Council vacancy, which was transferred to the Ministry of Education (the 
Ministry) on 2 December 2025, requesting the following information:  
1.  How you called for public nomination and 
2.  On what platform you have call for public nominations e.g. gazette website 
3.  A copy of your ad and pay rate as well. 
4.  Also, how many applications you have received from the public and 
5.  How many you have received from other nominating agencies such as TPK or Ministry of 

Women etc for your role. 
6.  How many you have shortlisted and 
7.  How many you have interviewed. 

Your request has been considered under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act). 
The Ministry needs to extend the timeframe for responding to your request, pursuant to section 
15A(1)(b) of the Act, as consultations necessary to make a decision on the request are such that a 
proper response cannot reasonably be made within the original time limit. You can now expect to 
receive a response to your request on or before 12 February 2026, which is an extension of 15 
working days. 
You have the right to ask an Ombudsman to investigate our decision to extend the timeframe for 
responding to this request, in accordance with section 28 of the Act. You can do this by writing to
