Dear Colleagues
Real Estate Authority
INFORMATION
I am currently reviewing a number of positions on the Real Estate Authority (the
Authority) and I am writing to invite your nominations for persons whom I can consider
for appointment to this body.
The Authority is established by section 10 of the Real Estate Agents Act 2008 and is
the oversight body for the real estate industry. It has responsibility to promote and
protect the interests of consumers in real estate transactions and to promote public

confidence in the performance of real estate agency work.
The Authority consists of a chairperson, who under the current legislative provisions
must be legally qualified, and up to six other members of whom at least two members
THE
are required to be a real estate licensee or former licensee.
Members need to possess appropriate knowledge, skil s and experience to contribute
to the decision-making of the Authority. Ideally, they should have senior management
or governance experience.
In particular, I am interested in candidates who offer:
UNDER
• experience in the real estate industry
• accountancy or risk management experience
• consumer advocacy (as envisaged by the Act)
• technology awareness
• legal qualifications.
