As permitted under section 16(1)(e) of the Act, I have decided to release these text
messages to you as a transcript. Some information, as indicated in the table above and in
the attached document, is being withheld under the following sections of the Act, as
applicable:
• section 9(2)(a), to protect the privacy of individuals
• section 9(2)(f)(iv), to maintain the confidentiality of advice tendered by or to Ministers
and officials.
In making my decision, I have considered the public interest considerations in section 9(1) of
the Act. No public interest has been identified that would be sufficient to outweigh the
reasons for withholding that information.
Information to be withheld
I have decided to withhold some text messages between the Prime Minister and the
Dignitary Protection Service in full under section 6(d) of the Act, to maintain the safety of any
person.
You have the right to ask the Ombudsman to investigate and review my decision under
section 28(3) of the Act.
