Dear John,
Thank you for your email of 25 November 2025 requesting information relating to the
Outdoor Access Commission Board Chair application process. Your request has been
considered under the Of icial Information Act 1982 (OIA).
You requested the following:
Applications (for the Outdoor Access Commission Board Chair) close at midnight on
25th November 2025. May I ask how you called for public nomination this round and
on what platform you have call for public nominations e.g. govt.jobs website. Also,
how many applications you have received from the public and how many you have
received from other nominating agencies such as TPK or Ministry of women etc for
your role. How many you have shortlisted and how many you have interviewed.
Also, can I request to view the appointment letter sent to the previous appointee. I
am happy for you to remove all the personal information.
The position was advertised on the Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI)’s careers website,
Seek, and jobs.govt.nz. A request for nominations was sent via email to the following

Prospective candidates from nominating agencies were directed to apply directly through one
of the above postings. Shortlisting of applicants is currently underway, and at the time of your
request interviews have not yet started.

Copies of the current Chair Don Cameron’s 2019 appointment and 2023 reappointment
letters are released to you as Appendix One. Some information has been withheld under
section 9(2)(a) OIA –
to protect the privacy of natural persons.

under section 9(1) of the OIA is not outweighed by other considerations which render it
desirable in the public interest to make the information available.
