Thank you for your Official Information Act request to the Department of Conservation (DOC),
received on 22 November 2025 in which you asked for information regarding paid parking instituted
by DOC.
This letter is to advise you that we are extending the 20 working day period to respond to your
request, as allowed under section 15A(1) of the Official Information Act 1982. We require an
additional 10
days to respond to your request. We will send you a response no later than 26 January
2026, earlier if possible.
Please note that this timeframe includes 25 December to 15 January which are not considered
‘working days’ under the Official Information Act. This is noted in the interpretation section of the Act
under the definition of “working day.”
The extension of time is necessary as the consultations necessary to make a decision on the
request mean that a proper response to the request cannot reasonably be made within the original
time limit.
In the interim, DOC has published some documents related to the programme on our website, which
may be of interest to you. These can be found here: Paid parking pilot pro
gramme: Our work. Other
documents, including reports, can be found in a proactive release of another OIA response here: oiad-
4682-response.pdf a
nd oiad-4682-attachment
-1.pdf. You have the right, under section 28(3) of the Official Information Act to make a complaint to an
Ombudsman about the extension.
If you wish to discuss this response to your request, please contact
