Thank you for your Official Information Act 1982 request received by the Ministry for Regulation on
17 November 2025. You requested:
Please provide the following information as at 17 December 2025:
1. For all roles within the mid-level tiers or equivalent levels of your agency's organisational
structure (for example, team managers, principals, seniors, analysts and advisors, etc), the
minimum, maximum, and median salaries currently being paid for each position title.
2. For the same group of roles, the number of employees in each pay band/grade that is
currently being used for each position title.
I am not seeking personal information, so anonymised data is fine. If any part of the request
must be withheld, please release the remainder. I would prefer the information in a simple
table or spreadsheet if possible, please.
Response
Please see the information in
Table 1 on the next page, showing the number of employees and
salary range information aggregated by broad position titles within each remuneration band to
ensure privacy is maintained while still meeting the intent of your request.
We are unable to provide the minimum, maximum, and median salaries currently being paid for
each position title where fewer than five individuals occupy the role, as this could make individual
employees easily identifiable and would breach their privacy. This approach is consistent with our
obligations under the Official Information Act 1982 (OIA) and the Privacy Act 2022.
We have therefore withheld some information under section 9(2)(a) of the OIA to protect the
privacy of natural persons. In compliance with section 9(1) of the OIA, we have carefully considered
whether the public interest in releasing the information outweighs the need to withhold it. On this
occasion, we have determined that the grounds for withholding are not outweighed by the public
interest.
