Official Information Act request
Thank you for your information request dated
17 November 2025.
You sought the
following:
“Please provide the following information as at 17 December 2025:
1. For all roles within the mid-level tiers or equivalent levels of your agency's
organisational structure (for example, team managers, principals, seniors,
analysts and advisors, etc), the minimum, maximum, and median salaries
currently being paid for each position title.
2. For the same group of roles, the number of employees in each pay
band/grade that is currently being used for each position title”
Your request has been considered under the Official Information Act 1982 (Act).
You have requested information as at 17 December 2025. Under the Act, information is
generally provided up to and including the date that a request is made. However, we are
providing data to you as at 30 November 2025 as this aligns with our monthly reporting.
We have interpreted ‘mid-level tiers or equivalent levels’ to refer to position groupings in
pay grades below Managers but above Administration
. We have grouped positions where
there are more than 10 kaimahi in a grade.
My responses are as follows:
1. For all roles within the mid-level tiers or equivalent levels of your agency's
organisational structure (for example, team managers, principals, seniors,
analysts and advisors, etc), the minimum, maximum, and median salaries
currently being paid for each position title.
To avoid providing individual kaimahi salaries, minimum and maximum kaimahi salaries
have been replaced with the grade minimum and maximum amounts.
Please note that appointments made at the grade maximum occur only in exceptional
circumstances. It occurs where a role requires specific expertise that is only available

through an extremely small talent pool. In some cases, this wil result in a premium
salary for these appointments.
