James James
[FYI request #32855 email]
Ref: PMO OIA 616-2025-26
Dear James,
Official Information Act request: Emails regarding Jevon McSkimming between
December 2023 and January 2024
Thank you for your Official Information Act 1982 (the Act) request, received on 14 November
2025. You requested:
“[…] all emails if any, received by your office containing allegations against Jevon
McSkimming between December 2023 and January 2024.
As these emails have already been identified and given this matter is a nationwide
story at present, can this OIA please be treated with urgency.”
We have interpreted your request as seeking any emails received by this office between 1
December 2023 and 31 January 2024 from the complainant referred to in the
IPCA report as
‘Ms Z’: Your request for urgency has been taken into account, such that we have been
working at pace to respond as quickly as possible.
Fol owing searches of this office’s records, it has become apparent that all the emails we
hold that originate from accounts believed to be associated with Ms Z were also received by
either or both the New Zealand Police and the Minister of Police, Hon Mark Mitchel . Since
the subject matter of these emails is more closely connected to their respective functions, I
have decided to transfer your request, insofar as it concerns these emails, to Police and Hon
Mitchel under section 14(b(ii) of the Act.
You have the right to ask the Ombudsman to investigate and review my decision under
section 28(3) of the Act.
The New Zealand Police and Minister for Police have the usual time limits under the Act from
receipt of this transfer to make a decision on your request.
Yours sincerely,
Cameron Burrows
Chief of Staff
