[FYI request #32834 email]
Tēnā koe Karen,
Thank you for your Official Information Act 1982 (the Act) request, received on 13
November 2025, in which you requested the following information:
Please provide any instructions given to the ministry of Education regarding
updating the Parent Portal with content from the draft curriculum for the
learning areas that are currently under consultation and not required to be
used until 2027.
Please include any responses from ministry officials (names can be redacted)
I have considered your request under the Act.
On 26 November, my Office asked you to refine your request. We advised that
Instructions to officials from the Minister generally happen in meetings, where
officials take their own notes. Some actions are captured by the office and sent to
the Ministry following meetings. Responses to these actions come to the Minister in
the form of papers, and the best way to receive these will be to request advice and
briefings, which will generally be responded to by the Ministry of Education, as the
owner of those papers.
We did not receive a response from you. I am therefore refusing your request under
section 18(g) as the information requested is not held by my Office.
Thank you again for your email. You have the right to ask an Ombudsman to review
this decision. You can do this by writing to [email address] or Office
of the Ombudsman, PO Box 10152, Wellington 6143.
Kind regards
Hon Erica Stanford
Minister of Education
