Thank you for your request for information dated 11 November 2025 made under the Official
Information Act 1982 (the Act) to the Department of Internal Affairs (the Department). You
requested the following information:
Please provide the destination of the crown car with rego plate CR678 that collected a
passenger on Aitkin Street at 7.05am on Tuesday 11 November.
Response to your request
The Department's VIP Transport (VIPT) operate the Crown Fleet. VIPT are responsible
for providing 24/7 safe, secure and confidential chauffeur-driven vehicles to users including
Ministers, and other users such as visiting dignitaries, Heads of State, Senior Judges, the
Governor-General and former Governors General and former Prime Ministers.
The Department has an obligation to protect the privacy of users where possible. Disclosing
details of their journey may lead to identifying the individual or their residence. I am
withholding the destination of the Crown car for this trip under section 9{2)(a) of the Act, to
protect the privacy of natural persons. As is required by section 9(1) of the Act, I have
considered whether the grounds for withholding information are outweighed by other
considerations. In this instance, I do not consider that to be the case.
