Dear MASH
Thank you for your official information request to the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), dated
8 November 2025, in which you asked for the following –
1 Whether any helicopter flight plans, landings, or hover operations were logged over or near
71 The Avenue, Pareora, during 2020, 2021 or 2022.
2 The operator and purpose of the flight (e.g., medical, police, private charter, agricultural,
surveil ance).
3 Any incident reports, complaints, or investigations associated with helicopter activity in that
area during 2020, 2021 or 2022.
CAA has been unable to locate any helicopter flight records or incident records associated with
helicopter activity in Pareora in 2020, 2021 or 2022. Accordingly, CAA’s decision is to refuse your
request for this information pursuant to section 18(g) of the Official Information Act 1982, on the
grounds that the information requested is not held by CAA and there are no grounds for believing
that the information is either—
i. held by another department, interdepartmental venture, Minister of the Crown or
organisation, or by a local authority; or
ii. connected more closely with the functions of another department, interdepartmental venture,
Minister of the Crown or organisation, or by a local authority.
You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of CAA’s decision.
