Reappointment to the Plumbers, Gasfitters, and Drainlayers Board
In my capacity as Minister for Building and Construction, it is my pleasure to advise that I
have reappointed you as a member of the Plumbers, Gasfitters, and Drainlayers Board (the
Board) for a three-year term commencing on 21 November 2025. Your appointment is made
under section 134 of the Plumbers, Gasfitters, and Drainlayers Act 2006 (the Act).
Information
In accepting this appointment, I expect all appointees to:
•
perform their functions efficiently, effectively, consistently, and ethically within the
spirit of service to the public,
•
recognise their individual, and the Board’s, accountability to me as the Minister

for Building and Construction,
•
avoid disclosing information, except in accordance with the Board’s functions as
permitted or required by law,
the
•
notify my office of any potentially contentious issues of public interest that may
have a significant impact on the Board, and
•
disclose any potential conflicts of interest.
Members may be reappointed, however, there should be no expectation on the part of new

appointees or incumbent members that they will automatically be reappointed. Note that no
member is eligible to serve for more than nine consecutive years [section 135(2)]. You may
resign at any time by written notice to me. Members may be removed from office on the
grounds of inability to perform the functions of the office, neglect of duty, or misconduct,
proved to my satisfaction. Members can also be removed on the grounds of inadequate
performance, provided the Board concurs [section 136(3)(4)].
Fees and expenses are paid in accordance with the Cabinet Fees Framework. As the Board
elected Presiding Member, you will be paid $721 per day for performing your role.

You are also entitled to be paid actual and reasonable costs incurred for travelling or other
expenses whilst performing duties as a member of the Board. Allowances and expenses are
paid in accordance with the Fees and Travelling Allowances Act 1951.
I would be grateful if you could formally acknowledge your reappointment by signing the
attached acceptance letter and returning it to the Ministry of Business, Innovation and
Employment.
Once your acceptance letter has been received, notification of your appointment will be
published in the
New Zealand Gazette.
