I refer to your official information request of 5 November 2025 and clarification of 17 November
2025 in which you have requested the 2025 aggregated enrolment data for the following subject
areas:
Chinese and Spanish; Computer Science; Data Analytics; Design; Earth Science; Economics; Electrical and
Electronics Engineering; Environmental Science; Finance; Geology; Health and Sport Science; History; Law;
Māori and Indigenous Studies; Marketing; Mathematics; Mechatronics Engineering; Nursing; Philosophy;
Political Science & International Relations; Primary and Secondary Teaching; Psychology; Screen & Media
Studies; and Te Reo Māori.
Under the Official Information Act 1982 (
Act) the University of Waikato (
University) has considered
your request and responds as follows.
Enrolment data has been aggregated to include:
a. Domestic and International students
b. Region of prior secondary school education for domestic students
c. Gender
d. Ethnicity
e. Age bands
Please see
attached document in response to the data requested, noting the following exceptions:
(a) The data provided for the academic year as at 2 December 2025.
(b) A student has been assigned to a subject based on their majors and minors, if a student has
selected more than one subject, they will be counted once in each category selected.
(c) Numbers have been aggregated in order to protect the privacy of individuals pursuant to
section 9(2)(a) of the Act.
