Official Information Act request relating to legislation and Privacy Act request for
personal information
Thank you for your requests under the Official Information Act 1982 and the Privacy Act 2020
received by the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet (DPMC) on 4 November 2025.
You requested:
“Dear Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, I would like all legislations that
are meant to be published that is relevant to me published and I would like all my
information that you hold made available to me.”
We have split your request is in two parts:
1) a request under the Official Information Act 1982 for legislation to be published that is
relevant to you
2) a request under the Privacy Act 2020 for information that DPMC holds on you.
In regard to the first question the New Zealand Legislation website provides access to most
New Zealand legislation
(https://www.legislation.govt.nz/about.aspx). This website is owned
and updated by the New Zealand Parliamentary Counsel Office which is responsible for
drafting and publishing most of New Zealand's legislation. Your request is therefore refused
under s(18)(d) of the Act, as this information is publicly available.
To answer your second question, on 4 November 2025 we asked you to provide a scanned
form of identification within ten working days. We have not yet received this identification so
we cannot complete this part of your request. If you wish us to reconsider this part of your
request and search for any relevant information, please send a scanned copy of your photo
ID (such as driver’s licence, passport or Kiwi Access card) to
[email address]. You have the right to ask the Ombudsman to investigate and review my decision under
section 28(3) of the Act. You also have the right to ask the Privacy Commissioner to
investigate and review my decision under section 70(1) of the Privacy Act.
This response wil be published on the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet’s
website during our regular publication cycle. Typically, information is released monthly, or as
otherwise determined. Your personal information including name and contact details will be
removed for publication.
