HSW Good Governance Discussion
Meeting date: 1 July 2025
Written date: 13 May 2024
Sponsor: Laura Dixon
Prepared by: 9(2)(a)
What you’re updating Te Pūrengi on
In March 2025, Te Pūrengi was asked to read the Institute of Directors (IoD) Good
Governance Quick Guide and complete the Self-Assessment. On 1 July, P&C will lead a
discussion on reflections from the assessment to identify 1-2 focus areas and actions to
strengthen good HSW governance.
Reason for Te Pūrengi’s consideration
To meet obligations under the Health & Safety at Work Act (2015) (HSWA) Te Pūrengi
must understand their HSW governance responsibilities - both individually as Officers of
the PCBU, and as a collective governance body.
Have Te Pūrengi considered this item before?
Te Pūrengi receive HSW reporting on a quarterly basis. This topic was raised at the
March 2025 Te Pūrengi meeting where the Q2HSW report was discussed, and advice
was given for Te Pūrengi to complete the IoD self-assessment.
