OIA request 25/26 0453 Request for Information on Grants under the Safer Communities
Fund.
Thank you for your Official Information Act (Act) request received by the Department of Internal
Affairs (Department) on 23 October 2025.
You requested –

Please provide a list of all grants made under the Safer Communities Fund from its
establishment in 2019 to the present day, including the recipient of the funding and the
total money awarded.
In response to your request, I can provide you with the fol owing information.
I must advise that we are refusing your request under section 9(2)(c) of the Act, as releasing this
information would be likely to prejudice measures protecting the health or safety of members
of the public. Disclosing details of recipients and funding amounts could compromise the
effectiveness of initiatives designed to reduce harm and protect vulnerable communities.
Under section 9(1) of the Act, I have considered if the reasons for withholding the information
are outweighed by other considerations, which render it desirable, in the public interest, to
make that information available. I have not identified any public interest that outweighs the
need to withhold the information.
As this information may be of interest to other members of the public, the Department has
decided to proactively release a copy of this response on the DIA website. Al requestor data,
