11.

A small lyre surmounted by a St Edward’s crown in gold wire on a scarlet backing worn on
dress 2 and dress 7;
b.
A small lyre surmounted by a St Edward’s crown embroidered on khaki cloth, worn on jackets
of dress 1; and
c.
A small lyre surmounted by a St Edward’s crown embroidered on lichen green cloth, worn on
shirts of dress 1.
12. All
Bandmasters:
a.
A large lyre surmounted by a St Edward’s crown in gold wire on a black backing worn on dress
2 and dress 7; and
b.
A large lyre surmounted by a St Edward’s crown embroidered on khaki cloth worn on jackets
of dress 1.
13.
All Drummers of Pipe Bands:
a.
A drum in gold and silver wire on a scarlet backing worn on dress 2 and dress 7;
b.
A drum embroidered on khaki cloth, worn on jackets of dress 1; and
c.
A drum embroidered on lichen green cloth, worn only by drummers of pipe bands and drum
majors on shirts of dress 1.
14.
All Pipers (except those of the New Zealand Army band):
a.
Bagpipes in gold and silver wire on a scarlet backing worn on dress 2 and dress 7;
b.
Bagpipes embroidered on khaki cloth, worn on jackets of dress 1; and
c.
Bagpipes embroidered on lichen green cloth, worn only by pipers and pipe-majors on shirts of
dress 1.
15.
All band majors (being drum-majors and pipe-majors) (worn with the drum or pipes 19mm above the
point of the chevron), four chevrons:
a.
In gold wire on a scarlet backing worn point up on dress 2 and dress 7; and
b.
Embroidered on khaki cloth, worn point up on the jackets of dress 1.

Fire-Fighters
16.
A badge may be worn by soldiers who are serving as fire-fighters and volunteer fire-fighters:
a.
Dress 1 (jackets and shirts). An embroidered red helmet and axes on a yellow backing.
17.
The badge is to be positioned as follows:
a.
Jackets. On the left lower sleeve, 165 mm above the bottom of the cuff. For Warrant Officers
the badge is to be worn immediately above the badge of rank.
b.
Shirts. On the left arm, 50 mm below the point of the shoulder.
Royal New Zealand Nursing Corps (RNZNC) Brooch
18.
The RNZNC brooch is of silver and enamel and consists of the Red Cross surrounded by a wreath of
fern leaves in silver, bearing across the base the title Royal New Zealand Nursing Corps in silver on a blue
enamel background, the whole surmounted by a silver crown. The brooch is fitted with a brooch pin and a
small silver chain and keeper pin.
19.
The RNZNC brooch may be worn above the right breast on all forms of dress 1 and dress 2 as
appropriate. The keeper pin is to be affixed to the dress 25mm to the right of the right hand edge of the brooch
and level with the base of the crown.
New Zealand Defence Support Unit (South-East Asia) (NZDSU (SEA))
20.
The formation patch of the NZDSU (SEA) is a badge in the design of a kiwi within a diamond, all in
white on a black background.
21.
To show the historical link to NZDSU (SEA), all Army personnel posted to the unit are to wear the
formations patch.
22.
The badge is worn on shirts of dress 1 only. The badge is positioned centrally on the left arm so the
upper edge of the badge is 50mm from the shoulder seam. Where other qualification badges are worn in this
position, the NZDSU (SEA) badge is to be positioned 19mm below other qualification badges.
