Thank you for your request, received on 15 October 2025, under the Official Information Act 1982 
(Act) for the following: 
I request information on exposure limits in the workplace for frequencies of the radio spectrum. 
This would be for various radio frequencies 600MhZ and up. 
 
Would you please share the information you know about this? For example the watts per square 

meter exposure limit? or SAR limit? 
 
 
Our response 
Your request is refused under section 18(g) of the Act, as the information requested is not held by 
us. The Electricity Authority Te Mana Hiko (Authority) does not set radiofrequency exposure limits. 
The Authority considered transferring your request to WorkSafe for response, however, we 
understand you have already requested this information from them, and we therefore do not 
consider a transfer necessary.  
Health New Zealand has publicly available information on radiofrequency exposure limits on its 
website, here:  https://www.tewhatuora.govt.nz/health-services-and-programmes/environmental-
health/non-ionising-radiation.  
You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of this decision.
