Thank you for your email of 9 October 2025 requesting information relating to the
New Zealand Meat Board. Your request has been considered under the Official Information
Act 1982 (OIA).
You requested the following:
I noted, you have recently call for nomination- New Zealand Meat board
May I ask how you called for public nomination and on what platform you have call
for public nominations e.g. govt.jobs website. A copy of your ad and pay rate as
well. Also, how many applications you have received for each of the role from the
public and how many you have received from other nominating agencies such as
TPK or Ministry of women etc for your role. How many you have shortlisted and how
many you have interviewed. Also, can I request to view the appointment letter if
there is one sent to the previous appointee. I am happy for you to remove all the
personal information.
The Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) approached seven organisations seeking
nominations for the role:
• Ministry for Ethnic Communities
• Ministry for Pacific Peoples
• Ministry for Women
• Te Puni Kōkiri
• Whaikaha-Ministry of Disabled People
• Treasury
• The New Zealand Meat Board.
MPI received nominations for the role from two agencies. We received eight nominations
from the Ministry for Women and two from Whaikaha. We also received five from the New
Zealand Meat Board. Four nominees were shortlisted for the role. No interviews were
undertaken.
Pay rates for directors at the New Zealand Meet Board can be found in the Board’s Annual
Reports at https://www.nzmeatboard.org/about/annual-reports. This part of your request is
therefore refused under section 18(d) of the OIA –
that the information requested is or wil
soon be publicly available.
A recent re-appointment letter to a standing appointee is attached as Appendix One. Some
information is withheld under section 9(2)(a) of the OIA–
to protect the privacy of natural
persons.
