Social Security Appeal Authority remuneration
The current Authority fees are:
• Chair – $868 per day
• Deputy Chair – $769 per day
• Member – $547 per day.

Social Security Appeal Authority member term provisions
Under Schedule 8, clause 2(1) of the Social Security Act 2018 (the Act), members (which
includes the Chair and Deputy Chair) may be appointed (and may be reappointed) for terms of
up to 5 years. The Act does not set a maximum period a member may serve.
Under Schedule 8, clause 2(2) of the Act, A member continues in office despite the expiry of
their term until they are reappointed, a successor is appointed, they are advised a replacement
is not being appointed, or they vacate or are removed from office.
