Thank you for your email of 6 October 2025 to the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment
(MBIE) requesting, under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act), the following:
1- The total number of Section 61 requests received each year over the past 36 months (to Sep
2025)
2- A breakdown of who submitted these requests: applicants themselves, lawyers, or licensed
immigration advisers
3- The success rate of Section 61 requests for each group, broken down by monthly record.
4- A breakdown of the types of visas granted following a successful Section 61 outcome
On 31 October 2025, we notified you that MBIE has decided to extend the period of time available to
make a decision on your request under section 15A(1)(a) of the Act, as the request necessitates a
search through a large quantity of information and that we would be responding to your request no
later than 17 November 2025.
