REF: OIA-19623
Dear Ben
Request made under the Official Information Act 1982
Thank you for your email of 15 September 2025 requesting the following information under the Official
Information Act 1982 (the Act):
I request documents under the OIA related to the completion date of the Te Ara Tupua
cycleway/works project.
Documents should be dated after 1 July 2025 until the current date.
If documents are too numerous I request a summary table that includes the date the cycleway
will be open for public use as well as key milestones (with dates) leading to that opening.
The Te Ara Tupua cycleway project has been in progress since 2019 and has been undertaken in two
sections – Pito-One to Melling and Ngā Ūranga ki Pito-One. We’ve interpreted your request as being
for the Ngā Ūranga ki Pito-One section and have responded on this basis.
There are a large number of documents potentially in the scope of your request. Given this, and as
you have suggested, we have instead provided a summary in Table 1 (below) that includes an
indication of the key milestones for the Ngā Ūranga ki Pito-One section of Te Ara Tupua from
September 2025 to project opening.
Please note that the milestones are indicative and subject to change due to project constraints, for
example:
• Meeting consent conditions
• Rail Corridor Access restrictions
• Weather and other unforeseen issues.
The actual opening date for Te Ara Tupua will be finalised in early 2026 fol owing achievement of the
construction milestones listed. We’ve provided a range for the opening date in the interim.
