[FYI request #32218 email]
Tēnā koe T. Kendrew,
Thank you for your email dated 4 September 2025 to Te Kaunihera o Pōneke | Wellington City
Council (the Council) requesting the following information:
I would like to request under the LGOIMA any correspondence, advice, or reports from July 2023 to
present regarding the potential retention, re-use or future of the sculptures currently affixed to the City
to Sea Bridge and Capital E buildings should demolition of these proceed.
This correspondence is to advise you that the Council needs to extend the due date of your response,
pursuant to section 14(1)(b) of the LGOIMA, as consultations necessary to make a decision on the
request are such that a proper response to the request cannot reasonably be made within the original
time limit.
This extension is necessary to allow for consultation, as the information within the scope of your
request includes correspondence with the artist themselves. Engaging with the relevant parties wil
ensure that al aspects of your request are considered appropriately and in accordance with the
LGOIMA.
For this reason, you can expect a response from the Council no later than 30 October.
You have the right, by way of complaint under section 27(3) of the LGOIMA, to request an
investigation and review of the Council’s decision to extend by the Ombudsman. Information about
how to make a complaint is available at
www.ombudsman.parliament.nz or freephone 0800 802 602.
Please be assured that while the due date for this request has been extended, I wil endeavour to
provide a response as soon as possible.
If you require further information, please contact
[Wellington City Council request email].
