You wrote:
1. I would like to kindly request how many jobs the police respond to each
year New Zealand wide that are mental health-related
a. With ambulances
b. Police only
2. I would also like to know how many mental health jobs the police in

In response to questions 1b and 2, Police proactively release statistics to the public and
are updated monthly. These statistics can be viewed and downloaded online from
policedata.nz
1. Please refer to the instructions on the summary page on how to use these
reports.
For your specific request the “Demand and Activity” report wil be the most useful. To
access this data please do the following:
1. Go to policedata.nz and scroll down and double click on the “Demand and
Activity” report.
2. From the ‘Demand and Activity report, select the tab labelled ‘Time and Place’.
3. Select the time-period you require by moving the sliding bar on “Select time
Period”.
4. Under ‘Occurrence Type Category’ select “Non-Offence Demand”
5. In “Occurrence group” select the “Mental Health” and “Threatens/Attempts
Suicide”.
6. You wil find the information you requested from the ‘Police Boundaries’ report.
Final y, you can download detailed information about these data using the download icon
at the bottom of the page and selecting “Data”.
