OFFICIAL  INFORMATION  REQUEST  FOR  INFORMATION  RELATING  TO  THE  HOKITIKA  AIRPORT 
RESILIENCE PROJECT  
I refer to your official information request dated 27 August 2025 for information relating to the Hokitika 
Airport Resilience Project. 
I advise that this project is not a runway extension, but it is an Airport resilience project.  As such, the real 
value for investment is targeted at new runway lighting, emergency power supply, drainage upgrading 
and surface strengthening  and reshaping with Asphaltic Concrete. The starter/breaking extensions are 
proposed at each end of approximately 70 meters each. 
The final design and investigations are underway now to confirm the exact requirements, and then the 
process of engaging contractors/suppliers will proceed. 
There will be no charge for supplying this information to you. 
Council has adopted a Proactive Release Policy and accordingly may publish LGOIMA responses on the 
Council Website at https://www.westlanddc.govt.nz/lgoima-responses.  The collection and use of personal
