Thank you for your email of 24 August 2025 to the Treasury in which you requested 
information under the Official Information Act 1982 (OIA). On 8 September 2025, the 
following parts of your request were transferred to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and 
Trade (MFAT) under section 14(b) of the OIA for response: 
 
“Annual Payments to International Organizations:  
•  Please provide a breakdown of the annual payments made by New Zealand to 
international organizations, including but not limited to: 
o  United Nations (UN): annual contributions  
o  World Health Organization (WHO): annual contributions  
o  Other UN agencies: annual contributions (please specify)  
    Other Global Commitments:  
•  Please provide information on any other annual payments made by New 
Zealand in fulfillment of global commitments, including: 
o  Climate change initiatives: annual payments  
o  Sustainable development goals: annual payments  
o  Other global initiatives: annual payments (please specify)”  
 
Timeframe: Please provide the information for 2015 - this year 
Format: I would appreciate it if you could provide the information in a digital 
format (e.g., PDF or CSV). 
 
You requested information on annual contributions and payments. The Ministry has 
interpreted your request to refer specifically to the subscriptions to International 
Organisations appropriation, which covers regular annual membership contributions. 
Broader payments such as grants or project funding and other one-off payments to 
entities like the United Nations and UNICEF (United Nations Children's Fund) fall outside 
this scope and are not included. 
 
Please find attached all relevant annual payments in response to your request.

payments made to the United Nations, which may be of interest:
