Response to your request
As background, the work to change the logo and update websites, letterheads, templates

business activity (business as usual). One external cost was incurred, which was $741 + GST
for a new font for the logo.
Under the OIA please provide all communications including but not limited to emails and
texts between staff and Minister Van Velden relating to the DIA name change, putting
English first.
A briefing to Minister van Velden, titled Internal Affairs Briefing – Department naming
convention, was sent on 12 February 2025. This briefing is already publicly available, so your
request is declined under Section 18(d) of the Official Information Act. You can find the
briefing on our website: www.dia.govt.nz/Official-Information-Act-Requests-2. The
reference number is 2526-0112.
There are no emails or texts between the Minister and Department staff on this issue, so this
part of your request is declined under Section 18(e) of the Official Information Act as the
information does not exist.
Please provide all internal email communications, if any on this matter.
There is one email between staff about this matter, which is attached.

There are three pieces of internal communications – communications to staff about the
change of logo – which were issued. These have already been publicly released and so I am
declining your request for this information under Section 18(d) of the Official Information
Act. You can find the briefing on our website: www.dia.govt.nz/Official-Information-Act-
