I Agree, spoke with @Steve Cottrell about the legality of this in regards to a developer requesting a revised
junction layout and with the property being DOC’s it will fall unto us. See attached

Hi team,
I would like to have your view on this mat er.
What is your view if the road is formed outside the legal road parcel?
I believe any third party who would like to work on such formed road, they also require our permission as we
maintain the formed road/bridge. While they also need to get permission from relevant land owner/s.
I am referring Lindis River Bridge which has approaches/bridge formed outside legal road parcel.

Hi S 9(2)(a)
I have received further information from SMC/WSP. We believe, the bridge and approaches are not within NZTA
road parcel. However, we maintain the road and bridge so any utilities within approaches/bridge also requires
NZTA permission.
It would be worth to discuss your proposal with the land owner/s as well.

HiS 9(2)(a) good to hear from you.
I had a quick look and there are four bridges over the Lindis, none in the Coastal network which I am Senior
Network Manager for. I think the bridge you are asking about is LINDIS RIVER BRIDGE Bridge 34658 - SH8 RP:
27 /0, which appears to be the only one which is single lane…

Hi Matthew,
The land it’s actually on is DoC’s so not really an issue. They most likely won’t even notice that anything has
happened. What you’re proposing basically falls within what would be regarded as the de facto road corridor
so it protected by GRPA as well.
Cheers
Steve

Hi Steve,
We are in discussion with Bendigo Mines regarding the upgrade regarding the Ardgour Road/SH8 junction
Released
which will lead to their main entrance in Otago, 008-0271-102.
If you look at the image below you will see that the SH is not located within our o icial corridor and to create a
right turning bay the existing roadway will have to be widened, taking up more of the adjacent property.

While we can proceed with the improvements at this stage I was wondering if this area is on your list and is
there any schedule as to when the property will be regularised (transferred/ exchanged)?

It’s a legacy issue for property to deal with by completing a land transfer/exchange. They usually only do these
by exception and may have limited funds (theme here).
I don’t think it would preclude any work proceeding if required.

Hi Chris,
under the Official Information Act 1982
Went through the draft and it is in keeping with the discussions we had with the mines.
I have a question in regard to the below where the SH does not follow the corridor, will this a ect the plans , do
we have to regularise this discrepancy before the intersection is approved?
