Thank you for your request to the Department of Conservation (DOC), received on 27 August
2025, in which you asked for information relating to appointments to the Game Animal Council.
Specifically, you asked:
May I ask how you called for public nomination and on what platform you have call for
public nominations e.g. govt.jobs website. A copy of your ad as well. Also, how many
applications you have received for each of the role from the public and how many you
have received from other nominating agencies such as TPK or Ministry of women etc for
your role. How many you have shortlisted and how many you have interviewed. Also, can
I request to view the appointment letter if there is one sent to the previous appointee. I am
happy for you to remove all the personal information.
We have considered your request under the Official Information Act 1982 (the OIA).
Your questions and our responses are listed below:
1. May I ask how you called for public nomination and on what platform you have call for
public nominations e.g. govt.jobs website. A copy of your ad as well.
A call for public nominations opened on 12 February 2025 and closed on 14 March 2025.
Vacancies were advertised on the Department’s website; via communications to interested
stakeholders; and in five regional newspapers: NZ Herald, Waikato Times, The Post, The Press,
and Otago Daily Times.
2. Also, how many applications you have received for each of the role from the public
and how many you have received from other nominating agencies such as TPK or
Ministry of women etc for your role.
A total of 20 nominations were received from the public, and no nominations were received from
the nominating agencies.
3. How many you have shortlisted and how many you have interviewed.
Six names were submitted for shortlisting, none were interviewed.
