Thank you for your request to the Department of Conservation (DOC), received on 18 August
2025, in which you asked for:

May I ask how you called for public nomination and on what platform you have call for
public nominations e.g. govt.jobs website. A copy of your ad as well. Also, how many
applications you have received for each of the role from the public and how many you
have received from other nominating agencies such as TPK or Ministry of women etc for
your role. How many you have shortlisted and how many you have interviewed. Also, can
I request to view the appointment letter if there is one sent to the previous appointee. I am
happy for you to remove all the personal information.
We have considered your request under the Official Information Act 1982 (the OIA). Below are
our responses to each part of your request.

What platforms you used to call for public nominations?
Advertisements were placed with the NZ Herald, Waikato Times, Dominion Post, Christchurch
Press, and Otago Daily Times. Nominating agencies Te Puni Kokiri, Ministry for Pacific Peoples,
Whaikaha, Ministry for Ethnic Peoples, Ministry for Women, and iwi contacts were emailed. The
roles were also advertised on the DOC Website and DOC social media.
2. How many applications were received from the public?
A total of 12 nominations were received from the public.
3.
How many applications were received from nominating agencies?
No nominations were received from the nominating agencies.
4.
How many candidates were shortlisted, and how many were interviewed?
Four names were submitted for shortlisting, none were interviewed.
