Thank you for your request of 17 August 2025 to Fire and Emergency New Zealand requesting the 
following information under the Official Information Act 1982 (OIA): 
 
•  Please can you provide incident reports redacting inviduals personal information on the 
fol owing two incidents F4273230 & F4273275 
 
Please find attached, as an Appendix to this response, a copy of the two SMS Incident Reports 
(SMS Reports). As at the date your request was received, the SMS Reports are not yet complete. 
However, we have decided to share the report with you as it stands at this time. It is possible that 
information in the report may change, or more information may be added, before a final version is 
generated. 
 
Some information has been withheld from the report(s) under section 9(2)(a) of the OIA, to 
protect the privacy of natural persons, including that of deceased natural persons. 
 
In making this decision, we have considered the public interest considerations in section 9(1) of 
the OIA. We have also redacted the names of personnel involved with this incident and these have 
been label ed as out of scope in the attached PDF. 
 
Please note the SMS Reports provided to you are generated by Fire and Emergency’s electronic 
station management system. In SMS Reports, ‘Notifications’ and ‘Message Log’ fields are reported 
in real time as fire crews and our communication centres communicate with each other during the 
incident. They are not the official final records of incidents but word for word transcripts of ‘live’ 
situations as they occur. They may contain spelling errors or commonly used abbreviations.
