Whangarei Boys High School student drowned in floodwaters from torrential rain at Abbey 
Caves in May 2023.  
The information within scope of your request is being withheld under the following 
section(s) of the Official Information Act, as applicable:  
 
6(c) - making the requested information available would be likely to prejudice maintenance of 
the law, including the prevention, investigation, and detection of offences, and the right to a 
fair trial 
The fatality related to this incident is currently before a Coroner, and the information 
requested is now held by the Coroner for the purposes of that inquiry.
