Request for information about Ex-Gratia Payments
Thank you for your request of 4 August 2025, under the Official Information Act 1982 (OIA), for:
Could you please provide this information for the two prior 12 month periods
please.
Also, could you advise how many of the 7 ex-gratia payments made in the last
12 months were paid on or after 5 March 2025.
Response
The Reserve Bank of New Zealand – Te Pūtea Matua (RBNZ) can advise that we received
one complaint for the period 01 April 2022 to 31 March 2023, and eight complaints for the period
01 April 2023 to 31 March 2024.
For the avoidance of doubt, “complaints” include informal reports of inappropriate behaviour,
informal reports of bul ying, formal reports of inappropriate behaviour, and formal reports of
bul ying. The RBNZ can advise that all complaints are managed at the lowest level possible, and
with immediacy. This includes speaking with employees about their behaviour.
The RBNZ can also confirm that the seven ex-gratia payments made in the last twelve months
were paid on, or after 05 March 2025.
The RBNZ has zero tolerance for unacceptable or unlawful discrimination, including harassment,
bul ying, and of ensive comments. Any al egations of breaches to our Code of Conduct or other
policies are taken seriously. Copies of RBNZ’s Code of Conduct and relevant corporate policies are
