Information about Large Scale Asset Purchase (LSAP) Programme
Thank you for your request of 28 July 2025 under the Official Information Act 1982 (OIA), for:
[…] provide the value of bonds resold to date and the capital gains and/or
losses incurred from the unwinding of these bonds to date. Ideally, please also
provide a breakdown on an annual basis.
Response
The information you have requested can be calculated using data available on the Reserve Bank of
the New Zealand – Te Pūtea Matua (RBNZ) website, at
: www.rbnz.govt.nz/statistics/series/reserve-
bank/open-market-operations. In particular, the ‘D3’ spreadsheet (refer the ‘LSAP – NZGBs’ and ‘LSAP bond sales’ tabs) includes
information on LSAP purchases and sales by specific bond lines, including the date and quantity of
purchase or sale, and the sale price or weighted average purchase price as applicable.
In addition, information on the financial gains and losses of the LSAP under the indemnity is
available at:
www.rbnz.govt.nz/financial-markets/domestic-markets/operational-information/large-
scale-asset-purchase-programme-process. The RBNZ Annual Report 2024 also contains further information about LSAP, which may be of
assistance. This is available at:
