As per the stocktake, there are currently 13 boards with a total of 57 ministerial appointed 
members. Could you please provide the following information:

Below is a list of the thirteen Tertiary Education Commission-administered boards with Ministerial 
appointments which were included in the Ministry for Women’s 2024 Gender and Diversity

The functions, duties and responsibilities of the councils of the university, wānanga and  
Te Pūkenga are specified in the Education and Training Act 2020. Further information is available in 
the Governance guide for council members of tertiary education institutions which is available on the 
TEC website. 
 
The functions, duties and responsibilities of the Muka Tangata and Ringa Hora Workforce 
Development Councils are specified in their respective Orders in Council (Muka Tangata Order in 
Council and Ringa Hora Order in Council).
